Harshika Pooncha made her acting debut in 2008, for the film PUC when she was 18 years old and doing her PUC at Christ College. She mainly appears in Kannada language films and has also worked in Telugu, Kodava, Konkani and Tulu language films.

She got Karnataka State Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for the role of Amreen Sabha in the film Thamassu in 2010. She was also Winner of Suvarna Award for Best Supporting Actress and Nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress – Kannada for her Role Yashodha in Jackie 2010.
